Random Tuesday

Wanna play too? Head on over to The Un Mom to link up.
OK, here we go, another Random Tuesday Thoughts...

Sexy Papa...You Did NOT help with the kitchen. I understand that you work all day. Fine. Good. I don't fault you for that. I used 3 gallons of mud to make all the repairs that needed to be done, including the ceiling. I sanded every surface, dusted and washed everything. I cut all of the paint, around every edge. So just because you rolled a couple coats of paint on the pre-cut walls, doesn't mean you get to claim "WE" redid the kitchen. Especially since I asked you to let me do it. That is the fun part.

Sorry about Foxy Friday. I totally flaked and forgot to post a hottie for the day. But in my defense I was pretty busy. And my kitchen looks great, so it was kinda worth the loss. I promise I will not miss this week.

Itty Bit's favorite new saying is "Any Chance". Keeping in mind that she's 5 year old trapped in a 3 year old's body, who thinks she is 16, I can't help but laugh my ass off when she says stuff like: "Any chance I could get a midnight snack before I go to bed?" "Any chance I can play Wii today?" Or "Any chance you could make pudding for dessert?"

Speaking of Itty Bit... My Mom is taking her to DC on Wed. They are staying for 3 days. She is mildly excited as she will get to go to the National Zoo and see the clouded leapards. I, on the other hand, am bouncing off the walls excited. I can't wait to have the house to myself. Is that bad? In true Hot Mama fashion, I totally plan to redo the living room walls while they are gone, but still?

I can't decided how I want to texture the living room walls. This house was build in 1953. The living room walls are pretty beat to shit. Sanding them down flat is not an option. So I figured I would just texture them. That would hide a lot of the imperfections. Now I want your opinion... Should I texture the mud with a roller for the "stucco" look, OR should I mud them flat and carve a faux brick pattern into the mud? I really like the idea of the brick, but that seems like a lot of work. What would you do?

  1. Well, hello! We need pictures! of the kitchen (you go girl, its all you, not the husband, we know), of the living room, so we can decide brick pattern or stucco look! The brick pattern sounds really cool, but like you said, a lot of work! What color have you decided on? Will it be different depending on the look you decide on?
I love the "any chance..." too cute and very grown up :).

Holding my breathe until I see pics!

  3. The problem with stucco is that it catches all kinds of crap on the walls. Anything fuzzy is magnetically attracted to the wall. And if a little ones falls and hits the wall, instant skin removal!

  4. No stucco finish, that sounds very hard to clean. You could do a troweled finish. We did that in our house and it looks great. Looks almost like the original plaster walls.

Enjoy your kid free time! She'll have a blast and you'll get some peace and quiet. Sounds like a win/win.

  5. I'd go stucco over the 'brick' but I think the troweled finish would be even better.

I think if I had the house to myself I'd nap on the couch without fear of anybody jumping on me. Ah, bliss.
